In the Autonomous City of Buenos Aires (in accordance with Ordinance No. 45,593 and Law No. 6,040) and in the Province of Buenos Aires, the cleaning and disinfection of drinking water tanks in rental buildings, industrial facilities, and commercial establishments are required every 6 months (semiannually). In addition, semi-annual bacteriological analyses and annual physicochemical analyses are required to verify water potability before municipal or provincial inspectors.

Article 982 of the Argentine Food Code establishes the limit values for microbiological parameters (absence of E. coli, coliform bacteria, and Pseudomonas) and physicochemical parameters (pH, turbidity, residual chlorine, total hardness, and presence of metals).
