Last Friday, we were proud to carry out weed control work at the iconic Church of San Francisco.
The Church of San Francisco in San Miguel de Tucumán is located on the corner of San Martín and 25 de Mayo streets, in the northwest corner of Plaza Independencia, right in the city's historic center. This basilica was the site of the first Franciscan school. It was built in 1767 and remodeled between 1879 and 1885.
Inside, historical artifacts are kept, such as the table where the Argentine Declaration of Independence was signed and the first Argentine national flag flown in Tucumán.
In front of the altar lies the burial place of Monsignor José Agustín Molina, who was deputy secretary of the Congress of Tucumán in 1816. Manuel Belgrano's troops had their lodging and infirmary in one of the wings of the convent after the Battle of Tucumán.
